One Direction may now find themselves responsible for two little ones after Louis Tomlinson’s mum gave birth to twins Ernest and Doris this week.

While the boys might not strictly have to look after the new arrivals themselves, they’ll no doubt take them under their wing as mini Directioners.

Luckily for his mum – Johanna Poulston, 40 – Louis was in the UK when his little brother and sister were born prematurely at Barnsley Hosptial, South Yorks, on Monday so he could be by her side.

A spokesman for Louis said: ‘Daniel and Johanna are pleased to welcome twins — a boy Ernest Rupert Atholl Deakin, 5 lbs 12oz, and a girl Doris Poppet Deakin, 4lbs 11oz.

‘Daniel and Johanna would like to thank Barnsley hospital, their special care unit, the Embrace team and Jessops special care unit. All the family are delighted.’

Louis already has four younger sisters – another set of twins, named Phoebe and Daisy, and siblings Lottie and Felicite.

A source told The Sun: ‘Louis is over the moon. He met Ernest and Doris and fell in love with them.

‘Family is massively important to him so he was made up that he was not abroad and was able to meet them so soon after they were born. His sisters mean the world to him so he’s delighted to have two more siblings to spoil.’

Louis’ father, Mark Tomlinson, split with Johanna when Louis, 22, auditioned for The X Factor back in 2010. She has been with Ernest and Doris’ dad. Daniel Deakin, 30, for two years.
